Amen Pol Amen.

Even sitting in India the political choice available in the UK makes my stomach churn. Mandelson I suspect is an idealogue a true believer in free trade and liberalisation as the Golden Path to development.

The only people I hear promoting this stuff any more are heads of business confederations and politicians. Economist mostly just don't buy it any more, too many Nobel prizes awarded to people who question the grand theory, and business people who actually work in businesses kind of know its not true because they actually have contact with markets.

And economic historians and development economists mostly laugh at this stuff cos it contradicts how countries actually developed.

So my view is that Mandy is intoxicated, still drunk on the received wisdom of the eighties. Which is why we should not be ruled by people who only ever work as politicians...

It could be a case of jobs for the boys after the next election. Who else (other than voters, of course) will give any of 'New Labour' jobs after their record in government?

One challenge the Post Office struggles with is ensuring that badly addressed and inadequately directed items reach their proper destination. A skill that, in fact, New Labour claim to excel at. Except they never quite manage the delivery element...... No doubt Mandelson applies the 1 + 1 principle to his interest in hiving off the Post Office to the Dutch.

1 + 1 = 2. Dutch + Dutch = Double Dutch. Jobs for the boys after the fall of New Labour and when they screw up on making it all work, well who'll know?

What's all this about 'New' Labour anyway? It's really 'Old' Labour dressed up to look something different, But lift the skirt and you'll see all the same dangling bits that brought Britain to it's knees before.

Where is the 'New'? Thatcher and her cronies crafted the privatisation business. Labour saw the gold weighing down Conservative member pockets and jumped straight in. Except they forgot to sew the pocket linings and it's all fallen out.

A truly 'New' anything in politics will be a government that is for the 'people' and not for self interest of party members (the join us and we'll make you rich pitch) and of businesses that fill the party coffers (necessary because the party members are a tight-fisted bunch).

But to achieve that we need new voters. Possibly even ones from beyond the shores of jolly old Britain. Afghans, Iraqis, Argentinians and maybe even the Rest of Europe. Anything has to be better that British voters voting in the same old nonsense time and time and yet time again (and their grand children and their grand children....)

Innovation! That's it! That's what we need in politics!

Now there's a real quandary
